The Teaching English as a Foreign Language Program at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (http://www.ncc.metu.edu.tr/) is seeking applicants for two full-time faculty positions.
The first position will begin Spring Term 2013. This position is for an English Language Teaching generalist who will teach primarily undergraduate courses in grammar, composition, reading, listening, and pronunciation (the courses and descriptions can be viewed on our website: www.efl.ncc.metu.edu.tr). Applicants should hold a PhD in English Language Teaching (or similar) and have university level teaching experience. The students in TEFL program at METU NCC are studying to become English language teachers. The applicant?s teaching experience, therefore, should be predominantly in teaching future or current teachers of English language. High level of English proficiency preferred for this position. Rank is open, but priority will be given to those applicants who meet METU?s requirements for Assistant Professor rank or better. The applicant?s area of research is open.
The second position will begin Fall Term 2013. This position is for an active researcher in English Language Teaching or Language Education to teach primarily courses in our ELT Master of Arts program (the courses and descriptions can be viewed on our website: www.efl.ncc.metu.edu.tr). Applicants should hold a PhD in ELT, Language Education, Linguistics, or similar; have a strong publishing record; and have experience teaching graduate courses. The applicant?s area of research is open. The preferred applicant will meet METU?s criteria for the Associate Professor rank. Assistant Professor ranked applicants may be considered depending upon their research program, teaching experience, and suitability for the ELT program.

Additional Salary Information: Monthly NET salary is approximately 3,100USD to 4,100USD depending on rank and experience. Position includes retirement fund, health insurance, and subsidized on-campus housing.

METU NCC is committed to high quality research and teaching. Though the applicant?s area of research is open, s/he must be actively engaged in research and publication. If hired, the successful candidate will be expected to continue to publish in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed venues and attend international conferences in support of METU NCC?s research goals. Normal teaching load at METU NCC is 3 courses (equivalent to 9 credit hours) per semester. Both positions are full-time and renewable annually. Position one will be available from February 1, 2013 or such other date that is mutually agreed.
