As part of the 125th anniversary celebration at NC State, University Theatre is presenting a unique multimedia fashion event in October. University Theatre?s director and acclaimed costume designer, John McIlwee, has long been a collector of vintage clothing, and participated in vintage dance events. Now he brings parts of his collection, along with the collections of costume historian Joan DeGusto, Art to Wear 2012, University Theatre, and women?s wear retailer C.T. Weekends to the stage in celebration of fashion through the 125 years since the founding of NC State University.
The event includes, among many, the talents of Triangle Vintage Dance members Chris and Dawn Imershein, vocal talents of Robert Chapman, Joanne Dickinson and Linh Schladweiler. It is a? visual walk and live fashion show featuring models such as Lynda Clark, Teresa Fernandez, Nancy McIlwee and a host of NC State students, that takes patrons through 125 years of historical events and fashion. We?ve included event information below.

The contemporary culture of any given era has always been eloquently represented by the clothing people wore. This fast-paced revue explores all aspects of clothing during the 125 years of NC State?s existence and how it reflected the surging forward of society during this exciting time. Vignettes of dance, music and movement will illustrate everything affecting the clothing choices and changing styles of ?what we wore,? from the bustle era right up to today?s eclectic bonanza of flamboyant and elegant design.
NC State students, friends of University Theatre will model fashions from the collections of John and Nancy McIlwee, Joan Degusto, University Theatre, Art to Wear 2012 and CT Weekends for Women.
Written and directed by John McIlwee, Director of University Theatre and long-time fashion collector.
$15 individual, $12 Seniors, alumni association, students, Encore members, parents and family association, $5 NC State Students.
